The ball is rolling again in the women’s regional and regional leagues. An overview of the matches between VfL Bochum, Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04
The women’s Bundesliga has been back in action for a few weeks now. This weekend, the leagues below followed suit, including VfL Bochum, Borussia Dortmund and FC Schalke 04. And the teams from the Ruhr region got the new soccer year off to a good start. An overview.
Regionalliga West
VfL Bochum’s women went into the long winter break as unbeaten leaders. FSV Gütersloh 2009 II were not to break this streak. Coach Kyra Malinowski’s team had to do without a number of players, with top scorer Dörthe Hoppius initially only on the bench.
Nevertheless, Bochum dominated proceedings. Anna-Luisa Figueira Marques gave VfL the lead (38′). In the second half, Alina Angerer (50) and Nina Lange (62) increased the lead. The consolation goal for Gütersloh came in the 71st minute.
Since their closest rivals Bayer 04 Leverkusen lost 1-0 at Arminia Bielefeld, VfL Bochum are now eleven points clear of second place.
Landesliga Westfalen 2
Borussia Dortmund, the next unbeaten leaders, returned to action. And, as expected, the Black & Yellows continued their run of success. BVB won 2:0 at DJK SpVgg Herten. The goals were scored by Mandy Reinhardt (3) and Marie Grothe (38).
VfL Bochum II also recorded a success. The second team won 4:0 at SpVg Berghofen II.
Landesliga Westfalen 3
FC Schalke 04’s first team had already started the league year again last weekend. After a 4-0 win against Sportverein Blau-Weiß Aasee, the Royal Blues followed up with a 6-0 victory against SV SW Esch. Top scorer Celina Jürgens scored twice (1st/90th). The lead in the table thus remains in Schalke’s hands
