Viktoria Köln will have to do without their number one in the third division away match at Rot-Weiss Essen on Tuesday evening (7pm, RevierSport).
This is a bitter setback for Viktoria Köln! As RevierSport has learned, Viktoria will have to do without Ben Voll on Tuesday (7pm, RS-Liveticker) at Rot-Weiss Essen.
The number one of the Cologne team is out due to food poisoning. Only on Saturday, the 21-year-old advanced to the matchwinner in the 1:0 victory over SV Wehen Wiesbaden and saved some so-called unstoppable shots. “We can thank goalkeeper Ben Voll, who played a great game,” said Viktoria coach Olaf Janßen, praising his goalkeeper in the RevierSport interview before the RWE game.
Who will replace Voll – Bördner or Rauhut?
Now Janßen has to reschedule. Voll, who only moved from FC Hansa Rostock to Cologne-Höhenberg this summer, is likely to be replaced by Elias Bördner between the posts in Essen. The 20-year-old joined Viktoria this season from Eintracht Frankfurt. Another option would be Kevin Rauhut.
An experienced, 32-year-old goalkeeper. Rauhut played against RWE twice in his career and won both games. Once with Sportfreunde Siegen (3:2, 2013/2014 season) at Leimbachstadion and the other time was not so long ago. In the 2019/2020 series, Fortuna Köln won 1-0 at Hafenstraße with Oberhausen-born Rauhut in goal.
In addition to Voll, Janßen will also have to do without the suspended Christoph Greger and the injured players Jeremias Lorch (cruciate ligament tear), Luca Marseiler (ankle) and Andre Becker (torn inner ligament) in Essen.
