At “Vonne Hafenstraße” we discuss Rot-Weiss Essen’s failure to capitalize on chances. A player can’t please anyone.
Rot-Weiss Essen are making too little of their chances this season. Against SV Sandhausen, the third division club also created good opportunities – but RWE failed to score several times. As a result, coach Christoph Dabrowski’s team lost 1:2 (0:1) against SV Sandhausen on Saturday.
On “Vonne Hafenstraße”, our RWE video talk, presenter Kira Alex talks to reporters Ralf Wilhelm and Justus Heinisch about the defeat. One thing is clear for the trio: a goal should have been scored in the first half. Leonardo Vonic, Isi Young, Lucas Brumme and Marvin Obuz missed the best chances.
There was a controversial discussion about Vonic – a young talent who undoubtedly has potential, but is unable to make the most of it, as the missed mega chance showed. “You have to do something like that,” says Wilhelm, adding: “I don’t think it’s a question of whether he’s young or old, but whether you have the coolness in front of goal. I maintain that you can’t learn that.”
Heinisch, on the other hand, says: “If you look at his finishes in Nuremberg, you can see that he can be cool.” It’s purely a matter of the head. Rot-Weiss Essen, he believes, will still have a lot of fun with the striker. But: Ron Berlinski is getting his feet wet and was able to draw attention to himself on Saturday
The trio also talk about the performance of Isi Young and Eric Voufack – and they assess how much the team missed Felix Götze. Do they need new players in the winter? In which position? And how important are the remaining three games before the break? Alex, Wilhelm and Heinisch also discuss this
