Wanne-Eickel saved – Haltern relegated – the decisions have been made

The last decisions in soccer in Westphalia have been made for the time being. An overview from the Oberliga to the regional leagues.

While matches are still pending in some leagues on the Lower Rhine, the season in Westphalia is largely over. The last matchday in the Oberliga through to the regional leagues brought a number of decisions.

Here is an overview.

Oberliga Westfalen

Sportfreunde Lotte secured the championship with a 4-0 win against TuS Ennepetal. Türkspor Dortmund’s 3-0 win over SpVgg Erkenschwick was not enough, only a defeat for Lotte would have secured the title for the Dortmund side.

TSG Sprockhövel had already been relegated before the matchday. After the 34th matchday, second place below the bottom line is now also firmly occupied. FC Brünninghausen will have to return to the Westfalenliga after just one year.

Promoted: Sportfreunde Lotte (champions), Türkspor Dortmund

Relegated: FC Brünninghausen, TSG Sprockhövel

Westfalenliga 1

SC Verl II secured promotion and the championship with a 3:1 win against Hammer SpVg. The third division club’s second team finished one point ahead of SC Westfalia Kinderhaus.

For Hammer, relegation was already certain before the matchday. With TuS Haltern, another club that not so long ago was involved in the upper leagues in Westphalia now has to go down to the regional league. The third relegated team is FC Nordkirchen.

Promoted and champions: SC Verl II

Relegated: FC Nordkirchen, TuS Haltern, Hammer SpVg

Westfalenliga 2

The promotion battle had long been decided here. Concordia Wiemelhausen had drawn the lot. But as in the previous season, the relegation battle was not decided until the last matchday.

With luck, DSC Wanne-Eickel will continue to play in Westfalenliga 2 in the coming season. The Wanne-Eickel team only managed to stay in the league thanks to their one-goal better goal difference compared to SC Neheim.

Despite a 4-0 win at Lüner SV, Neheim will be relegated to the Landesliga. Hombrucher SV and FC Lennestadt also share this fate, both of whom still had a chance of staying in the league before the last matchday, but lost their games.

Promoted and champions: Concordia Wiemelhausen

Relegated: SC Neheim, FC Lennestadt, Hombrucher SV

Landesliga 1

The top of the table remained together on the last matchday. FSC Rheda was promoted to the Westfalenliga. VfL Theesen could no longer dispute second place.

At the other end of the table, TuS Tengern and SuS Westenholz had already been relegated for some time. The trio was completed by SCV Neuenbeken, who applied to be relegated to Kreisliga A and were therefore relegated.

Promoted and champions: FSC Rheda

Promotion relegation: VfL Theesen

Relegated: SCV Neuenbeken, SuS Westenholz, TuS Tengern

Landesliga 2

One team, SF Ostinghausen, managed to march straight through from the Bezirksliga to the Westfalenliga. They no longer had to worry on the final matchday. SV Hohenlimburg, who are familiar with the Westfalenliga from previous seasons, secured the relegation spot.

FSV Gerlingen, FC Arpe-Wormbach and SV Brilon were relegated to the district league.

Promoted and champions: SF Ostinghausen

Promotion relegation: SV Hohenlimburg

Relegated: FSV Gerlingen, FC Arpe-Wormbach, SV Brilon

Landesliga 3

The championship and promotion were already out of Westfalia Herne’s reach before the matchday. The race for the relegation place was won by promoted SV Vestia Disteln. Although YEG Hassel also won their final game of the season, Disteln came out on top thanks to their superior goal difference.

In addition to VfB Westhofen and SG Welper, the third relegated team was still being sought. FC Altenbochum was the unlucky team to be drawn. Despite a furious 6:3 victory against Sportfreunde Wanne-Eickel, the goal difference also put a spanner in the works. This was because their direct rivals SW Wattenscheid 08 and TuS Hannibal also won, with Hannibal even winning by zero goals.

Promoted and champions: Westfalia Herne

Promotion relegation: SV Vestia Disteln

Relegated: FC Altenbochum, VfB Westhofen, SG Welper,

Regional league 4

The champions and promoted team in this division were also decided before the last matchday: SuS Neuenkirchen will play in the Westfalenliga next season. TSG Dülmen could still move up with a win in the relegation play-off.

Vorwärts Epe, SG Borken and TuS 05 Sinsen will be relegated to the district league.

Promoted and champions: SuS Neuenkirchen

Promotion relegation: TSG Dülmen

Relegated: TuS 05 Sinsen, SG Borken, Vorwärts Epe
