The second matchday of the Oberliga Westfalen was not stingy with goals. SpVgg Erkenschwick and TuS Bövinghausen provided the spectacle.
Goals were what distinguished the Oberliga Westfalen on the first matchday. The second matchday was even more stingy in the first half. In the end, however, there was only one game without a goal in the afternoon.
The SG Wattenscheid 09 continues to struggle after their relegation from the Regionalliga. At SpVgg Vreden, coach Christian Britscho’s team conceded the 0:1 shortly before the end through Maximilian Hinkelmann (83rd). The hosts celebrated their first win of the season. The players from Eintracht Rheine and SC Preußen Münster II left the pitch without a sense of achievement. Thus, both teams remain unbeaten in this still young season.
That is probably what Sportfreunde Siegen would also like. Coach Patrick Helmes’ team went away empty-handed. They lost 1:3 at the promoted 1. FC Gievenbeck. Siegen were already trailing 0:1 at the break. After Loius Martin (19./74.), Leon Gensicke (90.+5) also scored for Gievenbeck. Marius Zentler (57th) equalised in the meantime.
Türkspor Dortmund was another team that had to learn the ropes. Although coach Sebastian Tyrala’s team took an early lead against TSG Sprockhövel through Koray Dag (8th), the seasoned Oberliga team did not let this upset them: Kiyan Gilani with his season goals three and four (45.+1/79.) and Levin Müller (46.) turned the game around to 3:1.
Westfalia Rhynern also seem to be unable to carry the momentum of the previous season. They lost 2:3 (0:0) against SV Schermbeck. After Timur Karagülmez had conceded a goal (54th), Rhynern had even taken the lead thanks to Tim Neumann (64th) and Lennard Kleine (71st). Karagülmez again equalised (88th), before Schermbeck scored the winner in injury time (90.+4).
SG Finnentrop/Bamenohl and SpVgg Erkenschwick played one of the highest-scoring games of the afternoon in a 3-3 (3-1) draw. Philip Hennes had given the home side the lead (4th). Andreas Ovelhey (11th) equalised before the break. Before Bernie Lennemann scored a brace (26./35.) to put the SG in front 3:1. Then it was Stephan Oerterer’s turn. The Schwick striker equalised with two penalties for the promoted team (59th/64th) and gave Erkenschwick their first Oberliga point of the season.
Bövinghausen with first win of the season
Ambitious TuS Bövinghausen redeemed themselves for the 0:2 defeat in the derby against ASC 09 Dortmund. The Dortmund team won 4:2 (0:1) at TuS Ennepetal. Eric Yahkem (45./76.) scored for coach Sebastian Westerhoff’s team. However, three goals within just ten minutes were enough for the team from Dortmund to win. Umut Yildiz (53rd) and Jeron Al-Hazaimeh (58th/62nd) scored for Bövinghausen. Ilker Aglan scored the final goal to make it 4:2 (88th).
Victoria Clarholz and Sportfreunde Lotte had already parted 0:0 on Saturday.
The Dortmund derby concludes the second matchday: ASC 09 Dortmund receives FC Brünninghausen at 6 p.m.
