Wattenscheid with a respectable win – ASC 09 slip up and lose touch

After matchday 28, Sportfreunde Lotte remain top of the Oberliga Westfalen. In the basement, Wattenscheid can celebrate an important victory.

It looks as if Sportfreunde Lotte have more than overcome their brief period of weakness. With a 2-0 win in the top match against SpVgg Erkenschwick, coach Fabian Lübbers’ team reinforced their lead at the top of the table and have won all of their last three matches in the Oberliga Westfalen.

Türkspor Dortmund now follow in second place, having prevailed 3:2 at 1. FC Gievenbeck in an entertaining match. Somewhat surprisingly, ASC 09 Dortmund had to let the top duo go. In a wild back-and-forth game, the team from Aplerbeck were left empty-handed. Westfalia Rhynern prevailed 4:3 in the end.

Rhynern turned around Dortmund’s early lead before the break. Lars Warschewski (43) equalized to make it 2:2 for the ASC, who took the lead again shortly after the break through double winger Semin Kojic. However, this did not last long. Akhim Seber (58′) and Gianluca Di Vinti (77′) turned the game around again and caused long faces at ASC.

The corners of SG Wattenscheid 09’s mouth went up considerably. After a run of five league games without a win, they faced SV Schermbeck. A clear-cut affair on paper. In a match with little class, however, the Wattenscheid side prevailed 2:0 at the Lohrheide thanks to a brace from Jamal El Mansoury (53rd/90th +3).

As a result, the Wattenscheid side were among the winners in the table basement. TSG Sprockhövel also notched up an important three points. They defeated TuS Bövinghausen 4:1. Had they played their chances better in the first half, a higher victory would have been possible

FC Brünninghausen let a win slip from their grasp and remain bottom of the table. The Dortmund side squandered a 3-0 lead at the break against TuS Ennepetal and had to settle for a point after the visitors chased to catch up.

Sportfreunde Siegen recorded a 2-0 win against SC Preußen Münster II in an evenly-matched game.

SpVgg Vreden were also pleased to pick up three points. They defeated Victoria Clarholz 3:1.

SG Finnentrop/Bamenohl prevailed 5-2 against Eintracht Rheine
