In the Oberliga Niederrhein, KFC Uerdingen will face FC Kray. The Essen side recently sent a sign of life, KFC coach Voigt is calling for a home win.
Matchday 18 in the Oberliga Niederrhein. Friday (11 November) is all about the top duo. While leaders SSVg Velbert will meet FC Monheim, KFC Uerdingen, the first team behind them, will face FC Kray at the Grotenburg at the same time (19:30).
Most recently, KFC failed to pick up three points in Monheim and had to let Velbert pull away a little. KFC are four points behind the league leaders. “We played a good away game again and were the team with the better chances, as we have always done away from home. We are the best team there,” said coach Alexander Voigt, assessing the division of points and criticising: “We gave the opponent the goals through two individual mistakes.”
However, the Uerdingers do not have much time to be angry about the missed opportunity. FC Kray, a team from the bottom of the league, is coming to the Grotenburg. They recently showed signs of life with a 2-1 win over SC St. Tönis and now – still in second-to-last place – have eleven points on their account and are catching up with the competition.
“It’s not going to be a foregone conclusion, as everyone always expects. Because the opponents in the Grotenburg always give a few percent more,” KFC coach Voigt warns of the Essen team, which he considers dangerous. “Kray play unpleasantly and have to be cracked first. “
Home record must improve
And yet the objective is clear for the second-placed team in the table. “We expect three points from us. We can’t have any other claim. We have dropped too many unnecessary points at home,” Voigt notes. With three defeats, the Uerdingen team is currently only in seventh place in the home table. In the evening match with a special atmosphere, this should now improve. “In the Grotenburg under floodlights is something special for everyone.”
Persosnell’s situation at KFC is currently relaxed. Apart from the long-term injured Phil Zimmermann (cruciate ligament rupture), no other player is out. “Otherwise, everything is on board,” Alexander Voigt can draw from a full complement.
