1. FC Saarbrücken kicked off matchday 5 in the 3rd division on Friday evening with a game against Borussia Dortmund II. It was a good performance by the FCS.
Five points after four match days: With these prerequisites, 1. FC Saarbrücken and Borussia Dortmund II started the 5th match day in the Third Division.
For promotion aspirants Saarbrücken in particular, the start could not have been satisfactory. They were desperate to get their second win of the season against the BVB reserves – and they did so thanks to a good performance. In the end, it was 2:0 for 1. FC Saarbrücken.
Saarbrücken dominated the first half and created two or three good chances. Like in the 31st minute: Julian Günther-Schmidt won the ball in the opponent’s half and marched towards the Dortmund penalty area, forcing Borussia keeper Marcel Lotka to make a brilliant save with his finish.
Six minutes later, the Dortmund goalkeeper did not react so well. Schmidt extended to Rabihic, whose first shot hit the post in a roundabout way, but Rabihic switched quickly, grabbed the rebound and scored from close range – 1:0 Saarbrücken (37.).
The second half began unhappily for the guests from the Ruhr area. Kai Brünker (58.) took a shot from the crowd in the penalty area and it was 2:0 for the FCS.
Dortmund didn’t come up with much in the second half, Saarbrücken controlled the action and deserved to win 2:0.
