Borussia Dortmund coach Edin Terzic has called for a different face from his team ahead of the league clash with Union Berlin. There was praise for returnee Karim Adeyemi.
A clear 2:4 defeat against FC Bayern Munich in the title duel and the cup exit against RB Leipzig just four days later. Borussia Dortmund has truly had a difficult week.
“You can’t tick off something like that. Of course, this has not passed us by without leaving a trace. We’re really getting our butts kicked from all sides right now. Justifiably, we know that too,” said coach Edin Terzic on Friday at the press conference.
Time to lick the wounds, however, there is no. Already on Saturday (15.30, live in the RS ticker), the next endurance test is on the program with the home match against Union Berlin. An “extremely important game,” as Terzic called it. “We are only two points behind the top of the table and are also only two points ahead of Union Berlin. We know that the starting position is tight.”
This is still good, he said. Because, “We still have a great chance to make history.”
To do so, however, his team would have to “show a different face.” Terzic: “We deal with it openly and honestly and analyze it hard, sharply and critically. We urgently need to change and rearrange a few things to learn from this so that it doesn’t happen again. “
With Union Berlin, the best defense in the Bundesliga is a guest on Saturday. The offense as well as “a good self-image with the ball” will be key.
Just in time, therefore, comes the return of the suspended Karim Adeyemi. “He was in outstanding form before his injury,” Terzic explained. “The way he has presented himself in the last few days and weeks and the way he has approached his rehab and the way he has integrated himself into team training, we are confident that he can quickly return to his pre-injury form. With his courageous manner and speed, he will help the offense extremely.”
Sebastien Haller, like Thomas Meunier, is “a bit on the fence” but should also be available again. Jude Bellingham is expected back in the starting eleven after his break against Leipzig. Nico Schlotterbeck and Julien Duranville are out.
