SpVgg Erkenschwick secured a 4:0 win in Schermbeck on Friday evening. Magnus Niemöller still believes in promotion.
After last week’s 2-0 defeat to Sportfreunde Lotte, SpVgg Erkenschwick were able to record another win against SV Schermbeck. Coach Magnus Niemöller and his team continue to fight for promotion.
Although they are currently five points behind a promotion place in the Oberliga Westfalen, the dream lives on. “There are still 15 points up for grabs and we want to get them all,” said Niemöller after the final whistle.
The win against Schermbeck was important for the team’s morale, especially after last week’s defeat. “It’s always a relief when you win again after losing a game. We suffered our first defeat against Lotte in 2024, so we’re delighted to have won the derby 4:0 today,” explained the coach.
Many people in the stadium have said that we’ve still played a good season, so we’re going to end the season as us. The season is not over yet!

After the 0:2 against Lotte, the coach had the feeling that many fans in the stands were done with promotion. That’s not the case for him: “The win puts us in a position that could be interesting again. Many people in the stadium have said that we’ve still played a good season, so we’d like to end the season as us. The season is not over yet!”
The win against Schermbeck should now provide a boost for the next few games: “The game has given us that ‘wow effect’ again. I think this 4:0 derby win has ignited the environment once again to signal ‘Guys, we’re still here’. “
Compared to the same point in the first half of the season, the Schwicker team scored eight more points. “We also have a lot of players who don’t yet have experience in the top division. You’ve already seen and noticed that this season. You get better through training. You gain more experience and are now in a situation where we have taken the next steps,” analyzed Niemöller.
SpVgg Erkenschwick are currently fourth in the table, five points behind Türkspor Dortmund and seven points behind league leaders Lotte. Both teams will draw level in terms of points on Sunday.
Next weekend, SpVgg Erkenschwick will travel to Ennepetal. TuS are currently in eleventh place in the table, in no man’s land in the Oberliga Westfalen.
