What are the summer departures up to? Kesim makes his debut, Bonga and Hot in the promotion battle

Third international break of the current season and the third overview: How are the 2025 summer departures from Rot-Weiß Oberhausen doing?

Rot-Weiß Oberhausen said goodbye to ten players in the summer of 2025 – here’s how things are going for the former RWO pros – an overview:

Timur Mehmet Kesim (Hertha BSC II):

RWO had long fought for the services of the striker, who then decided to move to the capital. Things are not going well for Kesim here. The reason: Kesim has been injured for a long time since the preseason. But now there is light at the end of the tunnel: on November 7, 2025, the Oberhausen player, who has scored 15 goals, made his debut in the jersey of Berlin’s Hertha. In Hertha’s 1-0 win against FSV Luckenwalde, 21-year-old Kesim came on as a substitute in the 73rd minute. Further appearances are likely to follow this year. Tarsis Bonga (Würzburger Kickers): Things are going very differently and much better for Tarsis Bonga in the Bavarian regional league. The 28-year-old has been in the promotion race with Würzburger Kickers since the start of the season. And Bonga is a key player. This is underlined by his eight goals in 16 games so far, plus two assists. Würzburg is in third place, just two points behind leaders 1. FC Nürnberg II. Bonga scored nine goals in 23 games for RWO in 2024/2025. Denis Donkor (TSG Hoffenheim II): Former RWO winger Denis Donkor still has to get used to his new surroundings and a new league. The 21-year-old has made just two brief appearances for the third-division reserve team of Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim, playing a total of 21 minutes. By comparison, his RWO statistics from 2024/2025 are: 33 games, two goals, 13 assists.

Points Table

Kerem Yalcin (SC Paderborn II):

Kerem Yalcin seems to have made the right decision with his transfer. The defensive specialist has made twelve Regionalliga appearances and scored one goal for Paderborn. Better still, the 20-year-old was part of the matchday squad in the SCP pros’ recent second division games against Fortuna Düsseldorf and 1. FC Nürnberg, as well as in the recent games against 1. FC Kaiserslautern and Eintracht Braunschweig. However, Yalcin will have to wait a little longer for his first second division appearance against the current leaders of the 2. Bundesliga. Cottrell Ezekwem (SV Rödinghausen): He once joined RWO as a center back and then left Lindnerstraße in the summer of 2025 as a striker for SV Rödinghausen. He has yet to score a single goal for SVR in 14 games. Still, Cottrell Ezekwem has scored twice in two Westfalen Cup matches. While RWO is fighting for promotion, Ezekwem is at the bottom of the table with Rödinghausen.

Diamant Berisha (Sportfreunde Lotte):

The offensive player has not yet made it beyond the reserve role at Lotter Kreuz. He has made eight appearances in the league so far – without scoring a goal or providing an assist. In the Westphalia Cup, he did the same as Ezekwem – two appearances, two goals.

Jonah Husseck (TSG Sprockhövel):

The 21-year-old center back spent a long time recovering from a meniscus injury. He made his comeback on November 9—and what a comeback it was. Husseck scored a goal in the 4-2 win against Türkspor Dortmund. He played for 18 minutes.

Ozan Hot (1. FC Kaiserslautern II):

The 20-year-old has established himself in the FCK reserve team and is an integral part of the Oberliga squad. In twelve games, he has played five times as a center back—six times for the full 90 minutes, twice for 45 minutes, and once each for 23, 20, and 11 minutes. He has not played in three games. He has also played in the defensive midfield position. Kaiserslautern II is in second place, four points behind FK Pirmasens. Leon Kayser (SC Preußen Münster II): The right winger has made nine appearances for a total of 250 minutes for Preußen’s reserve team, which plays in the Oberliga Westfalen. Still, Kayser has contributed two assists.

Robin Benz (destination unknown):

The 29-year-old goalkeeper, who has played 76 times for RWO, is still looking for a new club.
