SC Wiedenbrück have once again made a very good start to the season. A loan player from Rot-Weiss Essen is also in the Wiedenbrück squad.
Eleven points after seven games – makes sixth place: SC Wiedenbrück once again underlines its qualities and has made an extremely positive start to the 2022/2023 Regionalliga West season.
“That is absolutely fine for us. We didn’t have an easy start with opponents like Münster, Wuppertal or Fortuna Köln. But we have played six and a half good games so far. Only the last one, the 2-1 win against Bocholt, was only partly satisfying for me,” Daniel Brinkmann sums up.
The successful Wiedenbrück coach, who is tied to the Rietberger Straße until 30 June 2025, nevertheless stacks the deck and emphasises: “Staying in the league is our priority. Everything else is a nice extra. “
Even though he hasn’t made a starting eleven appearance yet, his playing time is increasing rather than decreasing. He is on the right track.
Daniel Brinkmann on Nils Kaiser
An Essen player also wants to make a contribution to the East Westphalians’ goal for the season. Nils Kaiser has been loaned out to SCW by RWE until 30 June 2023. The 20-year-old central midfielder has not yet been able to assert himself in Brinkmann’s team, but is getting his playing time. “Nils is a good boy and I also see his development as positive. Last season he made two Regionalliga appearances for Essen, with us it has now been six out of a possible seven games in which Nils has featured. Even though he hasn’t made a starting eleven appearance yet, his playing time is increasing rather than decreasing. He is on the right track,” said the 36-year-old Brinkmann, praising the RWE loanee.
Wiedenbrück travel to Alemannia Aachen on the next matchday. The East Westphalians were successful in their last two appearances on the Tivoli. A-licence holder Brinkmann says: “We won twice there. We are looking forward to this game again. After Essen’s promotion, Aachen is now the highlight. They currently have an average of 8,000, 9,000 spectators. I hope that the crowd will be as big against us. That’s always a lot of fun – for everyone involved. “
