When world-class golfers cry…they’ve won the Ryder Cup

England’s Tommy Fleetwood made Europe’s success over the USA at the 44th Ryder Cup perfect in Rome. He scored the decisive point against Rickie Fowler.

When several seasoned world-class golfers shed tears, they have just won the Ryder Cup. In the prestigious continental comparison with the USA, Team Europe took impressive revenge for the 9:19 defeat two years ago in Whistling Straits in the US state of Wisconsin. That was a record defeat

Englishman Tommy Fleetwood scored the decisive point against Ricky Fowler in front of 60,000 enthusiastic fans at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Rome. In the end it was a 16.5:11.5 victory for Europe’s stars. This means that the USA has now been winless on European soil for 30 years.

The team led by European captain Luke Donald started the final day of the prestigious continental tournament with a 10.5:5.5 lead in the final twelve singles matches.

The stars of the European team alongside Fleetwood were Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm and Viktor Hovland. The tournament was also a great success for the two Scandinavian Ryder debutants Ludvig Aberg and Nicolai Höjgaard.
