Fabian Rüth will have to leave Rot-Weiss Essen in the summer. He may move to the next club in RWE colors.
After attacker Ron Berlinski, another player who will have to leave third-division club Rot-Weiss Essen in the summer of 2024 could be drawn to former RWE coach Christian Neidhart.
Defensive all-rounder Fabian Rüth, who was never happy in Essen, is currently presenting himself to south-west regional league club Kickers Offenbach. “We want him to show himself,” managing director Christian Hock told OP-Online. Rüth came on in the first half of the 3-1 test match against relegated regional league side Schott Mainz on Saturday (June 29).
The 22-year-old Rüth only made eight competitive appearances during his time at RWE. Last season, he appeared once in the Lower Rhine Cup and once in the 3rd division for three minutes in a 4-0 win against Borussia Dortmund’s U23s.
In January 2022, the defender moved from TSG Hoffenheim II to Essen and was loaned out to Oberliga club RW Koblenz for one season.
A serious injury also prevented the Bayer 04 Leverkusen-trained player from making his breakthrough. He was out for 210 days with a torn cruciate ligament. Now he is looking for his chance for a new start.
Perhaps with former coach Neidhart, who brought Rüth to Essen at the time and who wants to make a change in Offenbach after last season was completely unsatisfactory – the Kickers only finished eleventh at the end of the season.
The ambitious fourth-division club has already had 14 departures. On the other hand, there have been eight new arrivals so far, two of whom come from the club’s own U19s and one from its own second team.
An overview of RWE’s departures: Marvin Obuz (on loan back to 1. FC Köln), Ron Berlinski (Kickers Offenbach), Cedric Harenbrock (Hansa Rostock), Fabian Rüth, Björn Rother, Isaiah Young, Sandro Plechaty (all unknown), Sascha Voelcke (Waldhof Mannheim), Felix Götze (SC Paderborn), Vinko Sapina (Dynamo Dresden), Ben Heuser (VfL Bochum II)
