Blau-Weiß Mintard has made a successful start to the Landesliga season. However, injuries cast a shadow over the victories.
After Blau-Weiß Mintard got off to a successful start with a 2-1 win over FSV Duisburg, the winning streak continued in the Landesliga on Wednesday. Against SV Budberg, the Mülheimers won convincingly 4-2 (1-0).
Coach Guido Contrino commented on the match: “We started the game well again, similar to Saturday. We took a deserved early lead. After that, I have to admit that we lost the thread a bit from the 20th minute. The opponent became the better team until halftime and had chances to equalize.”
Tactical adjustments at halftime turned things around, “I made some changes at the break and it worked well,” the coach explained.
Special recognition went to Reid Osei, who shined with two goals and an assist. “Reid put in an outstanding performance yesterday. Soccer is a team sport, but he definitely stood out,” the coach paid tribute.
However, midfielder Ben Kastor is expected to be out for eight weeks due to a broken foot, while defender Noah Stemmer may have torn his lateral ligament. These injuries are undoubtedly a setback for the team, as Contrino points out, “The loss of Ben and Noah is unfortunate, as they are important parts of our squad.”
The next challenge is already coming up: the away match against SGE Bedburg-Hau 05 (August 13, 3 p.m.). The coach analyzed the upcoming opponent: “Bedburg is strong at home and has a dangerous offense. We can expect a challenging game. Our goal is to continue the positive trend and face this challenge.”
Contrino thus also underlines his goal in the table: “We are initially aiming to achieve a good single-digit place in the table. Some clubs like FC Kray, SV Scherpenberg or Blau-Weiß Dingden have financial resources that we can’t match. There will probably be about four teams ahead of us in the end. However, if my players surprise me in a positive way, I’m of course open to it. “
