While the Regionalliga West has started again for some teams, Fortuna Cologne tested against TSV Steinbach Haiger. Two newcomers were also present.
Successful conclusion of the test match in January for Fortuna Cologne. The third-placed team in the Regionalliga West received the Regionalliga-Südwest representative TSV Steinbach-Haiger on Sunday afternoon. Thanks to goals from Leon Demaj (47′) and Justin Steinkötter (72′), Cologne managed to secure a 2-1 win. The late consolation goal for the team currently tenth in the Regionalliga Südwest, scored by Christoph Maier (89′), was ultimately irrelevant.
The focus at Fortuna Cologne was once again on two new additions who should help the club in the second half of the season. Kevin Rodrigues Pires (previously of Wuppertal SV) and Kevin Holzweiler joined the club within a few hours at the end of January. After he had already played in three test matches as part of the winter preparation, the club finally made a firm commitment: SC Fortuna Cologne signed Kevin Holzweiler, who had been without a club until recently.
Forecasting had already reported in December that the offensive player would be introduced to Fortuna’s training.
Rodrigues Pires was allowed to play against Steinbach after about an hour for the scorer Demaj, Holzweiler replaced Danny Breitfelder after 68 minutes.
Fortuna Köln face their next test on Sunday, February 4, at 2 p.m., when SC Paderborn II comes to the Südstadion. In third place, Fortuna are currently seven points behind leaders 1. FC Bocholt, but they also have a game in hand.
