Kaan Inanoglu and Emre Cil from MSV Duisburg and Berkant Gedikli from Rot-Weiss Essen are taking part in a tournament in Croatia with the Turkish U19s – and have been successful so far.
The Turkish U19 national team is currently taking part in a friendly tournament in Croatia. With Kaan Inanoglu, Emre Cil (both MSV Duisburg) and Berkant Gedikli (Rot-Weiss Essen), three talents from the region are also represented.
All three answered the call of the Turkish selection for the first time in January and made their debut in the 3:0 friendly against Jordan. MSV striker Inanoglu stood out in particular, who – like RWE right-back Gedikli – was in the starting eleven and scored a goal straight away.
With their performances, the RWE trio also recommended themselves for the current training course being held by the Turkish U19s in Croatia. Coach Soykan Basar’s team are taking part in an international friendly tournament there – and have impressed so far.
Even without Inanoglu, who arrived later due to his involvement against SC Verl in the 3rd division, they managed a 2:1 win over Greece to kick off the tournament. Gedikli was in the starting eleven and played one half, while Cil played five minutes.
1:0 win over Scotland with Gedikli and Inanoglu
Yesterday the team was in action again. This time it was with Inanoglu against the Scottish U19s. While Cil did not play in the second match of the tournament, Gedikli and Inanoglu played the full 90 minutes. Once again, the Turks were successful and defeated the Scots 1:0.
Both Cil, who joined from Hertha in the summer and has made 14 Bundesliga appearances for MSV, and Gedikli, who has made ten appearances for RWE in the Niederrheinliga this season, are both established players at the club. Inanoglu’s performances have even earned him a place in the Zebras’ third division squad.
The training course concludes on Friday with a clash against Saudi Arabia. While Inanoglu will probably be needed again for the MSV professionals against Viktoria Köln on Saturday, Cil and Gedikli will have the chance to once again apply for a place in the squad for next month’s European Championship qualifiers. There, the Turks will face Germany, among others.
