It was another great World Cup night in Doha: defending champions France are through to the last 16 as Group D winners despite losing 1-0 to Tunisia.
A beautiful goal from Wabi Khazri was not enough for the Tunisians to progress as Australia won their final group game against Denmark 1-0, Mathew Leckie scoring. This is the second time since 2006 that the Socceroos have made it to the knockout rounds.
Argentina and Poland are also through to the last 16 at the World Cup in Qatar. Lionel Messi’s team finished first in Group C after beating Poland 2-0.
Thanks to a better goal difference than the Mexicans, who have the same number of points, Poland is in second place and can move on. For the Mexicans, the 2-1 (0-0) victory over Saudi Arabia was not enough.
Argentina will now face Australia in the round of 16 on Saturday (20:00). Poland face France a day later.
