On Wednesday evening, Wuppertaler SV, 1. FC Bocholt, Fortuna Düsseldorf II, KFC Uerdingen and MSV Duisburg were in action in test matches. This is how the regional league teams fared.
SSVg Velbert – Wuppertaler SV 2:1
After test match highlights against Schalke (0:7) and VfL Bochum (1:5), SSVg celebrated a victory against a higher-class team on Wednesday evening: WSV. Niek Munsters put the visitors from the neighboring city ahead after just under a quarter of an hour. However, after numerous changes at the break, Wuppertal were unable to extend or defend the 1:0 lead. Robin Hilger equalized after 66 minutes and scored the winning goal for the relegated side nine minutes later.
Before the season opener against Türkspor Dortmund in a week and a half (Saturday, July 27), Wuppertal will have a dress rehearsal. On Saturday, ambitious south-west regional league side TSV Steinbach come to the Zoo (2 p.m.).
FC Marbeck – 1. FC Bocholt 0:17
The Bocholters celebrated a joyful shooting party at the B-league club. The final score was 17:0. Phillip König was the top scorer with a five-goal haul. Raphael Assibey-Mensah scored four times and Marko Stojanovic three times. Also successful: Isaak Akriditis (2), Bogdan Shubin (2) and Kasper Harbering.
Fortuna Düsseldorf U23 – TuRU Düsseldorf 1:1
The Fortuna reserve team struggled against the regional league team from the city, having recently held Bremen U23s to a draw and beaten Frankfurt U23s. Lennard Wagemann gave them the lead midway through the first half. However, Daniel Rey Alonso equalized and the game remained tied.
SC St. Tönis – KFC Uerdingen 2:4
Promoted KFC proved their morale against their league rivals from the previous Oberliga season. The newly-formed Krefeld side fell 2-0 behind early on, but fought their way back to win the game. Nazzareno Ciccarelli with two goals, Jeff Fehr and Mehmet Yildiz were the scorers for KFC.
MSV Duisburg, who were relegated from the third division, celebrated a relaxed 8:0 win against district league side Duisburger SV 1900 on Wednesday evening, with seven of the eight goals coming after the break. Click here for the match report.
