Yannick Reiners has been wearing the Adler Union Frintrop jersey for almost 23 years. Now the top goalscorer takes part in the Forecasting Q&A.
With four goals in 14 appearances, Yannick Reiners is Adler Union Frintrop’s top scorer. The 2.04-meter striker scored his last goal at the end of November in a 1:1 draw against 1. FC Kleve. After a counter-attack, Reiners kept his cool in front of the opposing goalkeeper and scored the goal to make the final score 1:1.
The 26-year-old thus secured his team a very important point in the relegation battle. In the following game in Straelen (0:3), Reiners was shown the red card and was only allowed to watch the game in Hilden (0:0) at the end of the season.
Frintrop’s number nine has played at the Wasserturm since 2001. With 27 goals in the district league promotion season and 30 goals in the state league championship, Reiners was one of the guarantors of the team’s march into the Oberliga.
The 26-year-old firefighter takes on the forecasting questionnaire.
My greatest strength is… finishing.
My biggest weakness is… Heading (offensive).
In our dressing room… we talk a lot of rubbish. You always hear the latest news from trash TV and there’s a box in the middle after every session.
The best moment of my soccer career was… the double promotion and the double in the B-youth.
The best goal of my career was… probably from the halfway line against Steele and my good friend Max In der Beek, who joined us a season later (best wishes).
My best teammate was… Till Schumacher, who now plays for Austria Klagenfurt.
My best coach was… I haven’t actually had many coaches, but our current coach Corne is certainly one of the best. But I’m also very grateful to every coach who accompanied me in my youth. They have made me into the player/person I am now.
My worst coach was because… I think everyone has a few bad habits and quirks. Like I said, I’ve been able to learn and take something from everyone so far on different levels.
When I was a little boy, my role model was… Marcelo Bordon because of my position as a central defender at the time, but also Cesc Fabregas.
I didn’t become a professional footballer because… I’m too small and Adler Union Frintrop don’t play professionally yet.
The best thing about the Ruhr… is the people and the beer.
Either, right?
Dortmund or Schalke? Definitely Schalke!
Beer or water? Beer.
Club or pub? Pub.
Natural or artificial turf? Artificial turf.
Fighter or artist? Fighter.
Cinema or Netflix? Netflix.
Soccer on TV or in the stadium? In the stadium, even if I can’t use my season ticket as often as I’d like because of my job.
Finally, a few more questions:
Who would you like to go for a beer with? As a Schalke fan, I would love to have a beer with Mike Büskens. He’s just a pithy guy. But the beer with the lads tastes best after training in the Turmstübchen.
At which club did you experience the most extreme team trip – and why?
As there has only ever been one club in my life, the best team trips are definitely with Frintrop. Taking on the Ballermann with sometimes 50 people and making the Playa unsafe is simply a great thing every year. For the sake of some, I’d better not give away any more details. What happens on Malle stays on Malle (laughs).
What can you laugh about?
Bad jokes and at myself.
My best vacation?
I’m grateful for every vacation I can take, but if I had to choose now, the 2018 trip to the USA (San Francisco, LA, Vegas) would definitely be in the top 3.
What is indispensable for you?
Family, friends and soccer.
What music do you like to listen to and what is playing in the dressing room?
Personally, I listen to almost everything. Before the game, DJ Ohters has put together a motivational playlist and after the game I usually play the Mallorca playlist.
If you could start again, what would you do differently in your life?
Everything happens for some reason and that’s why I’m just as happy as it is at the moment and wouldn’t change much.
