Yannick Reiners – Which Schalke player he would like to have a beer with

Yannick Reiners has been wearing the Adler Union Frintrop shirt for almost 23 years. Now the top scorer is answering the forecasting questions.

With four goals in 14 appearances, Yannick Reiners is the top scorer for Adler Union Frintrop. The 2.04-meter striker scored his last goal at the end of November in a 1-1 draw against 1. FC Kleve. After a counterattack, Reiners kept his cool in front of the opposing goalkeeper and scored the goal to make it 1-1.

The 26-year-old thus secured a very important point for his team in the relegation battle. In the following game in Straelen (0:3), Reiners was then shown the red card and was only allowed to watch in the final game in Hilden (0:0).

Frintrop’s number nine has been playing at the Wasserturm since 2001. With 27 goals in the Bezirksliga promotion season and 30 goals in the Landesliga championship, Reiners was one of the guarantors for the team’s promotion to the Oberliga.

The 26-year-old firefighter answers the Forecasting questionnaire.

My greatest strength is… finishing.

My biggest weakness is… heading (offensively).

In our dressing room… we talk a lot of nonsense. You always get the latest news from Trash TV and after each session there’s a crate in the middle.

The best moment of my football career was… the double promotion and the double in the B-youth.

The best goal of my career was… probably from the halfway line against Steele and my good friend Max In der Beek, who joined our team a season later (best regards).

My best teammate was… Till Schumacher, who now plays for Austria Klagenfurt.

My best coach was because… I haven’t actually had that many coaches, but our current coach Corne is certainly very high up there. But I’m also very grateful to every coach who accompanied me during my youth. They made me the player/person I am now.

My worst coach was because… I believe that everyone has a few bad habits and quirks. As I said, I was able to learn something from everyone so far and take it with me on different levels.

When I was a little boy, my role model was Marcelo Bordon because of my position as a central defender at the time, but also Cesc Fabregas.

I didn’t become a professional soccer player because… I’m too small and Adler Union Frintrop doesn’t play in the professional league yet.

The best thing about the Ruhr area… are the people and the beer.

Either, or?

Dortmund or Schalke? Definitely Schalke!

Beer or water? Beer.

Club or bar? Bar.

Natural or artificial turf? Artificial turf.

Fighter or artist? Fighter.

Cinema or Netflix? Netflix.

Football on TV or in the stadium? In the stadium, even though my job means I can’t use my season ticket as often as I’d like.

Finally, a few questions:

Who would you like to have a beer with? As a Schalke fan, I would love to have a beer with Mike Büskens. He’s just a great guy. But the beer tastes best with the guys after training in the Turmstübchen.

Which club did you experience the most extreme team trip with – and why?

Since there has only been one club in my life so far, my experiences with Frintrop are the best team trips. Taking over the Ballermann and making the Playa unsafe with sometimes 50 people is simply a great thing every year. I’d rather not reveal any details for the sake of some people. What happens on Malle stays on Malle (laughs).

What makes you laugh?

Bad jokes and about myself.

My best vacation was?

I’m grateful for every vacation I get, but if I had to choose now, the 2018 trip to the US (San Francisco, LA, Vegas) would definitely be in the top three.

What is indispensable for you?

Family, friends and soccer.

What kind of music do you like to listen to and what’s playing in the locker room?

Personally, I listen to almost everything. Before the game, DJ Ohters has put together a motivational playlist and after the game, the Mallorca playlist usually plays.

If you could start over, what would you do differently in your life?

Everything happens for a reason and that’s why I’m just as satisfied as I am now and wouldn’t change much.
