SSV Jahn Regensburg won 1-0 at 1. FC Schweinfurt 05, but will have to do without Felix Strauss. And not without reason.
SSV Jahn Regensburg won 1-0 at 1. FC Schweinfurt 05, but will have to do without Felix Strauss in the coming weeks. After 63 minutes, the Regensburg player was shown a yellow card for a foul, but then said something to referee Daniel Bartnitzki that he didn’t like. As a result, the Regensburg player was sent off with a red card. Barnitzki explained exactly what happened after the game on “Magenta Sport.” “It was clear to me on the pitch that the player was taking a high risk with his tackle and was definitely playing the man. When I watch the video, I can see that the ball was definitely involved a little bit too. Regardless of the foul, it must be said that, despite all the emotions on the field, words were used that have no place on the field. The player insulted me at the end (“You’re all blind!” – ed.).”
The referee has a clear opinion on the words used: “If he said that, then it’s correct, if the player said that. As referees, we have to draw a clear line. Emotions are part of soccer. That’s normal. But insults are crossing the line.”
Strauss had to leave the field, but Regensburg still managed to hold on to their 1-0 lead thanks to Noel Eichinger’s goal (11th minute). In the sixth minute of stoppage time, however, Schweinfurt almost equalized. But Manuel Wintzheimer was denied by Jahn keeper Felix Gebhardt, who reacted strongly.

Strauss, however, saw the situation quite differently: “For me, I made an outstanding tackle. I played the ball. That’s a foul, that’s a classic wrong decision. Then I turn away, I’m emotional and I say, ‘You’re so blind that you can’t see that.’ Then he says, ‘Strauss, turn around. Red card.’ Sure, you could say it’s my fault because you shouldn’t say that. But in soccer, it’s all about emotions. You need a bit of tact,” he said.
Either way, Jahn picked up three important points in the fight against relegation, while the lights went out in Schweinfurt.
