10,000 season tickets sold – last year’s figure already beaten

Fans want to watch RWE even when the mood is not so good. 10,000 season tickets have already been sold.

At the end of last season, the mood at Rot-Weiss Essen was not at its peak. In the 3rd league, the team was fighting relegation and the trend was going in the wrong direction.

This was followed by a general meeting at which RWE had to admit that the 2022 financial year had brought in a minus of 3.6 million euros.

Nonetheless, the spectators are once again busting RWE’s chops. The club announced that 10,000 season tickets had been sold.

By way of comparison: a year ago (at the beginning of August) – after the club’s promotion to the 3rd Division – the figure was around 9870. 10,000 have now been sold – and the trend is upwards.

RWE announced: “Season tickets are currently on sale in the online ticket shop. All RWE fans have until tomorrow, Friday (8 p.m.), to get their hands on a season ticket at Hafenstraße. Should the number of 11,907 season tickets sold be reached before then, sales will end correspondingly earlier.”

Essen had named 11,907 as the mark where season ticket sales would stop, as guests always get a quota too and there must be enough tickets for a one-day sale.

Last year RWE stopped at 11,000 season tickets sold, but this was only reached in the winter when the Esseners also sold season tickets for the outstanding home games after the winter break.

Should the number of 11,907 not be reached by Friday after the sales phase, a free sale would start, about which RWE would inform separately.

Essen’s first home game will be against Erzgebirge Aue. The first home win came against Aue last season. In the second home game, it will be really crowded at Hafenstraße, when promoted Preußen Münster present themselves at the Hafenstraße stadium.
