1st FC Wülfrath narrowly missed out on a return to the Landesliga last season. That is now to be made up for. The new signings are promising.
1. FC Wülfrath continues to go full throttle on the transfer market. The board and sporting management of the district league club are delighted to have been able to lure 26-year-old former Oberliga and Regionalliga player Florian Schikowski to Wülfrath.
With SV Straelen, TVD Velbert and most recently 1. FC Monheim, Schikowski has several top amateur clubs on his CV. The 31-year-old brother of Florian Schikowski, who still plays for Monheim, scored 22 goals last season. Florian Schikowski was therefore instrumental in Monheim’s promotion to the top division.
“1. FC Wülfrath made a lot of effort to recruit me and after really good discussions with the coaching team and those responsible, it was a good fit on a personal level straight away. I also know some of the lads from the team from before and am absolutely convinced of the sporting quality and character of the squad. My aim is to use my experience and quality to help the lads on the pitch and play a successful season,” says Schikowski, who also has four Ekstraklasa appearances for Polish club Lechia Danzig on his CV.
Wülfrath coach Joscha Weber is also overjoyed that this transfer has worked out and enthuses: “Florian Schikowski is certainly every team’s dream player for the offense and I am all the more pleased that we were able to convince him to join 1. “Schiko” will be a big part of achieving our goals in the future!”
Second chairwoman Michaela Massenberg adds: “Of course, it also played into our hands that Florian Schikowski wanted to take a step back due to his medical studies. As the sports management and the team are very well connected and communication between them is excellent, we heard about this very quickly and reacted immediately. This knowledge was also worth its weight in gold for the last few transfers. “
