Several injured players were absent from Schalke’s first-team training session this Thursday—including Amin Younes.
Two days before the important second-division home game against SV Elversberg (Saturday, 1 p.m., Sky), there’s a lot going on with FC Schalke 04’s first team. Nikola Katic (who had been managing his workload) and Finn Porath (who took a blow to the head in the KSC game) trained with the team again on Thursday morning; there should be no reason why the duo won’t play against the visitors from the Saarland.
Janik Bachmann, on the other hand, remains sidelined for the Royal Blues due to injury; the 29-year-old did not participate in the session—unlike the U23 prospects Khadr, Gulasi, and Wallentowitz, whom Schalke coach Miron Muslic included in training. Meanwhile, training is still out of the question for the long-term injured players (Tomas Kalas, Timo Becker, Christopher Antwi-Adjei, Christian Gomis, Bryan Lasme, Emil Höjlund, Zaid Tchibara, Johannes Siebeking).
The same was true on Thursday for Amin Younes. As Schalke informed this editorial team on Thursday afternoon without providing details, the 32-year-old is also out with an injury. Miron Muslic plans to comment in detail at the press conference this afternoon (2 p.m.).
Younes had been sidelined for months under the current coach until he suddenly reappeared in the starting lineup in the last game against Karlsruher SC (1–2)—partly due to a shortage of players—and performed well. Now, however, the skilled player seems to be sidelined once again.
