Second-division soccer club SC Preußen Münster managed to salvage at least a draw on Friday evening against 1. FC Nürnberg.

SC Preußen Münster avoided its third consecutive loss. At 1. FC Nürnberg, Alexander Ende’s team managed a 1-1 (0-0) draw despite falling behind and being outplayed for much of the match.

The Eagles, once again with Johannes Schenk in goal and Paul Jaeckel and Marvin Schulz starting in place of Torge Paetow (bench) and Yassine Bouchama (suspended), were initially pinned back by the Club.

Mohamed Ali Zoma had the best chance of the match when, after a through ball from Julian Justvan, he rounded Schenk and took a shot—but Jannis Heuer made a save on the line (6′). The home team looked poised to take the lead shortly thereafter: Schenk failed to control a back pass but managed to clear it in the nick of time (15th minute); shortly after, Justvan narrowly missed the target (16th minute).

FCN continued to set the pace, creating further opportunities, yet the score remained scoreless at halftime. Münster made only sporadic appearances in the attacking third.

Nuremberg remained the dominant team after the break. In the 56th minute, the long-overdue breakthrough finally came: While trying to play the ball out from the back, Mikkel Kirkeskov played the ball right into the path of Zoma, who didn’t hesitate and scored the 1-0 lead with a low shot.

It didn’t last long: Out of nowhere, Preußen Münster equalized seven minutes later. Jorrit Hendrix initiated the counterattack, played a give-and-go with Kirkeskov in the penalty area, and finished confidently to make it 1–1.

Münster was now pushing forward more. Hendrix forced Jan Reichert into a save after another combination play with Kirkeskov (75th minute). It remained the last notable shot on goal of the match.

Münster climbs to twelfth place for now, but their lead over 17th place is only one point, and the competition could catch up this weekend.
