MSV Duisburg starts advance ticket sales for RWE match in January

2500 tickets are available to the third-division football team MSV Duisburg for the match at Rot-Weiß Essen. There is an exclusive advance sale.

Third division football club MSV Duisburg has now announced details for the sale of guest tickets for the league match at promoted Rot-Weiß Essen. There will be an exclusive advance sale for members and season ticket holders. The match, part of the 21st matchday, will take place on Sunday, 5 February, at 2pm at the Stadion an der Hafenstraße.

The ticket allotment for Duisburg fans is 2500 tickets – including 1000 standing-room tickets (13 euros for full-payers). MSV Duisburg will start the exclusive advance sale for members and season ticket holders on Tuesday, 17 January, at 10 a.m. in the fan shop in the Schauinslandreisen Arena. From this group, each buyer may then purchase a maximum of two tickets. According to MSV, ticket requests from fan clubs have already been processed via fan representative Christian Dorscheid.

At the first leg on 5 August, the Duisburg Arena was sold out with 28,200 spectators. MSV had to leave several blocks free for security reasons. For the Duisburg team, the windfall came at a good time. The income made it easier for them to apply to the DFB for a subsequent licence in the autumn. The derby ended 2:2 after Duisburg had taken a 2:0 lead, and the return match at Hafenstraße should also be sold out quickly.

MSV Duisburg test against Uerdingen

Meanwhile, Duisburg’s third-division club has scheduled another test match as part of its preparation, and fans will once again be left out. No one is allowed to watch against Dutch teams, Paderborn is also a forbidden zone for football fans – and now a test match against Oberliga team KFC Uerdingen is also considered too risky. Third-division football club MSV will play a test against the Krefeld team on Thursday, 5 January.

According to the club, the match “unfortunately has to take place under exclusion of the public due to official requirements.” Two days later, the Zebras will test against second-division team SC Paderborn 07 – there, too, there will be no access for fans. So in the end, only one Duisburg test match will have been played with spectators: the 2:3 against league rivals VfB Oldenburg last Saturday.
