SV Meppen celebrate their fourth win of the season with a 3:2 victory over FC Erzgebirge Aue and yet there is still trouble – with the fans.

As we all know, there’s life in the old dog yet again: this could also apply to SV Meppen this season.

The Emslanders were already declared to be clearly relegated a few weeks ago and also most recently after the defeat against Viktoria Köln. But suddenly SVM is back in business. After a 3:2 victory against Erzgebirge Aue, despite trailing 1:2, coach Ernst Middendorp’s team is now only four points behind the relegation zone with nine matchdays to go.

The team, led by striker Marvin Pourie, had to do without the usually vociferous support of the Ultras against Aue. The Ultras boycotted the support against Aue with a banner reading “No will, no passion, no support!

Pourie, who scored the 3:2 in the 87th minute, was anything but understanding towards the fans after the game. He said in the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung”: “If you think you are behind the club and then put up banners beforehand saying that you are not singing for the coach or the team or the officials, but for the club, then I feel sorry for them. Then they can stay away at the next home game.”

Meppen’s captain David Blacha had a similar view: “We saw it, but we have to do our job. That’s exactly what the fans demand of us. If that’s the reaction they want to send us a signal with, then that’s a shame. I think in these situations you need the fans more than ever.”

Meanwhile, coach Middendorp disagreed with his striker and the captain. The 64-year-old said, “I have understanding for one side. When I come here as a normal spectator and watch the game against Verl, I have to say: I can only support what they wrote on the banner. “
