Fortuna Düsseldorf can welcome a new face to the supervisory board. He played 141 competitive games for the second-division club between 2013 and 2020.

Fortuna Düsseldorf have a new member on their supervisory board: it is none other than the former goalkeeper of the state capital, Michael Rensing. He was elected to the supervisory board by the department heads at the sports committee meeting on Monday evening. He takes over from 74-year-old Dieter vom Dorff, who as head of the handball department last held the seat on the supervisory board appointed by the sports committee and who had resigned from his post after more than 17 years.

“Fortuna, the entire club and the fans have grown very close to my heart during my active time and now I can give something back,” said the ex-keeper, who in his career was the number one goalkeeper for FC Bayern Munich as the successor to Oliver Kahn and also played for 1 FC Cologne and Bayer Leverkusen. “I am very happy to be back with my Fortuna after seven wonderful and emotional years on the pitch. An exciting and interesting task awaits me in my new role. “

Rensing also takes on the role of honorary youth director. Previously, this role was held by Michael Brechter, who will remain with the club as part of the marketing department.

Supervisory Board Chairman Björn Borgerding says of the new addition to the committee: “With the election of the Sports Committee, we are getting a former Bundesliga professional as a new member in Michael Rensing, who has become a true Fortunen over the years. Fortuna’s supervisory board is now composed as follows: Dirk Böcker, Björn Borgerding, Sebastian Fuchs, Tim Greiner Mai, Prof. Dr. Horst Peters (all elected), Peter Frymuth, Lutz Granderath, Martina Voss-Tecklenburg (all appointed by the election committee) and Michael Rensing (appointed by the sports committee).
