Sportfreunde Siegen won their rescheduled match against 1. FC Köln II thanks to a late goal. SV Rödinghausen’s winning streak came to an end.

During the international break, several rescheduled matches are taking place in the Regionalliga West. The action kicked off on Tuesday with the reserve teams of SC Paderborn and FC Schalke 04, who played to a 1-1 draw. Bonner SC and the VfL Bochum U21 team also split the points on Wednesday (2-2).

Sportfreunde Siegen hosted the second team of 1. FC Köln on Friday evening. Head coach Boris Schommers’ team managed to hold off the young “Geißböcke” with a 2–1 (1–1) victory thanks to a late winning goal, thereby solidifying their seventh-place standing in the standings.

Kevin Goden headed Sportfreunde into the lead in the twelfth minute off a cross from David Kammerbauer. Just past the half-hour mark, Siegen had a great chance to make it 2–0, but Hamza Saghiri hit the post from close range (32′).

Shortly before the halftime whistle, Cologne suddenly struck. They transitioned quickly, and Fynn Schenten—who has already played seven times in the Bundesliga for the FC first team this season—finished the attack (45’+3).

Everything pointed to a draw until stoppage time began. And it was indeed the Siegen team that capitalized on the final chance of the match. Malik Hodroj (90’+2) sent the crowd at Leimbach Stadium into a frenzy.

SV Rödinghausen hoped to continue its recent upward trend of three consecutive unbeaten games in its away match against Sportfreunde Lotte and pull slightly ahead of the competition in the fight to avoid relegation.

But Lotte thwarted SVR’s plans and won 3–0 (1–0). Goal-scorer Leon Demaj put the Blue-and-Whites ahead (18th minute). In the second half, Max Ritter added another (61st minute). Demaj sealed the 3–0 final score from the penalty spot shortly before the end (79th minute, penalty)—it was his 14th goal of the season.

For the Wiehen squad, the situation at the bottom of the table thus remains precarious. They are just one point ahead of the first relegation spot, currently held by Wuppertaler SV.

Two more make-up games are scheduled for Saturday (March 28, 2 p.m.). Bonner SC is back in action against FC Gütersloh, and Fortuna Düsseldorf II will host league-leading Fortuna Köln.
