Alemannia Aachen, one of the top favourites, has made a classic false start, including the dismissal of a coach. The squad is currently being fine-tuned. Trial players are in the mix.
Alemannia Aachen already emphasised at the beginning of its squad planning that there is only one goal in the 2023/2024 season: to achieve first place and the associated promotion to the Third League if possible.
And even now, after only four points from four games, sporting director Sascha Eller emphasises to Forecasting: “We haven’t said that we have to get promoted. But we want to do it and I still think it’s a realistic goal. We still have 30 games ahead of us.”
It is quite possible that these matches will also be approached with new player material. Because Eller does not want to rule out further transfers. “We are now taking a close look at who has understood us, who has understood Alemannia Aachen and who really wants to give everything here to be successful. And, yes, of course we are still being offered a lot of players. We are also looking at who might be able to help us,” says Eller.
On Monday (21 August), three trial players took part in the first session under interim coach Reiner Plaßhenrich. In addition to Hamza Saghiri (most recently of Viktoria Köln), who only wants to keep fit and is aiming for the 3rd League, Jan Löhmannsröben was also there. The third in the group is a midfielder whose name is not known.
227 Third Division appearances! Jan Löhmannsröben brings a strong CV with him
Above all, Löhmannsröben is likely to cause a stir. The 32-year-old is regarded as an iron-hard player who can play in the centre of midfield. Actually a predestined man for a working-class club like Alemannia Aachen.
Löhmannsröben was relegated from the 3rd division last season with FSV Zwickau. He brings with him the experience of 227 third league games (eight goals, 15 assists). In addition, he played three games in the 2nd Bundesliga and 68 matches in the Regionalliga Nordost. Löhmannsröben has also played for clubs such as VfB Oldenburg, Wacker Nordhausen, 1. FC Magdeburg, FC Carl Zeiss Jena, 1. FC Kaiserslautern, Preußen Münster, Hansa Rostock and Hallescher FC. Perhaps an engagement with Alemannia Aachen will soon follow.
