SG Wattenscheid held its annual general meeting. There was positive news and a new supervisory board.

Things are really going well for SG Wattenscheid 09 this season. After 15 matches, SGW leads the Oberliga Westfalen standings. And at the annual general meeting, the club reported positive financial results.

Last year, the club posted a loss of around 105,000 euros, but last season it recorded a profit of approximately 97,000 euros. By the end of this season, the club is expected to break even. As of June 30, 2025, outstanding liabilities totaled 154,948.71 euros.

The following were also elected: Christian Arnold (Kanzlei am Wattenscheider Hellweg), Jörg Döllekes (Härterei Reese), Carsten Dubberke (Buschenhofen & Partner), Christian Machholz (NTG), Coskun Özdemir (CO Schweisstechnik), and Darius Pradella (ImmoTec) form the new supervisory board of the 09ers.

Another positive development: The long-established club has seen significant growth in its sponsorship base. This progress is expected to lead to SG Wattenscheid returning to the Regionalliga West in the future.

This clear goal was emphasized at the general meeting. It is to be achieved by next season at the latest, as Wattenscheid’s sporting director Richard Weber explained, adding that he wouldn’t object to an immediate promotion either. “Of course, we want to stay in one of the two promotion spots for as long as possible.”

The team currently holds a six-point lead over third place; in the Oberliga Westfalen, the top two teams are promoted to the Regionalliga. That’s a nice cushion for coach Christopher Pache’s team. This cushion could grow even larger this weekend if SGW successfully wins Saturday’s (3:30 p.m.) top match against ASC Dortmund.

A win against the fourth-place team would send a strong message, potentially extending the lead over ASC to twelve points—though Dortmund has played one fewer game.
