Center-back on the verge of leaving – Wattenscheid and Dortmund are next in line

KFC Uerdingen have won their last six games in a row. But not all players have played a big part in these trebles.

Things have been going extremely well at KFC Uerdingen for a few weeks now. The Krefeld side have returned to the title race with six wins in a row and are chasing fall champions Sportfreunde Baumberg.

The gap between them and Monheim is currently nine points. This difference is the result of the first half of the season. KFC Uerdingen were still searching for their form under coach and sporting director Marcus John.

At the start of the season, John was still using players that he has tended to neglect in recent successful weeks. Maurice Haar is one of these players.

The 28-year-old came to the Grotenburg last summer as captain of TuS Bövinghausen and naturally had high expectations. And he also played from the start in each of the first eight games. But things didn’t work out and John made a change. He now trusts Ole Päffgen.

“Ole does an excellent job in the center-back position and we win the games,” says John, who reveals: “Maurice approached me proactively because he was unhappy with his situation. That’s understandable. We had an honest conversation. The result is that he will be looking for a new club in the winter. Maurice is a fine and clever boy, but in sporting terms he will have a hard time with us in the future.”

While Haar only missed 17 minutes of the entire season up to matchday 8, he only played three times from matchday 9 onwards – for one, 45 and 90 minutes. The former Westfalia Herne player is not coping with his role as a supplementary player.

As Forecasting has learned, the first clubs have already contacted Haar. The defender will probably be drawn back to Westphalia. The Oberliga clubs SG Wattenscheid 09 and ASC 09 Dortmund are showing great interest. The fact that Haar lives in the Westphalian metropolis would speak in ASC’s favor. If he were to commit to Dortmund-Aplerbeck, he would no longer have to travel between Dortmund and Krefeld, but would be able to play at home
