After seven winter transfers, it’s over. Westfalia Dortmund have assembled their squad to take them to the Kreisliga A.
The wild ride continues at B-Kreisliga club Westfalia Dortmund. The club, which was only founded in 2022, is already known for attracting top-class players to the lower levels of the Kreisliga.
And that is paying off: Westfalia have yet to suffer a defeat in the league. In the first year, they went unbeaten in the Kreisliga B.
There, too, the club is in first place. The record: 13 games, 13 wins. And yet there was a transfer offensive in the winter. Presumably, the seven newcomers are supposed to settle in and then attack directly in the Kreisliga A in the coming season. The final piece of the puzzle has now been found. Following the signings of Ricardo Seifried, Justin Neiss (both TuS Bövinghausen), Steven Josifov (SpVgg Horsthausen), Darius Stawski (who trained at VfL Bochum and Borussia Dortmund), striker Alan Michna (most recently player-coach at FC Frohlinde in the Bezirksliga) and 24-year-old Yunus Emre Cakir (75-time Oberliga player who joins from TSG Sprockhövel), Westfalia have also signed Alessio Argenziano.
The defender is moving from Hombrucher SV (Westfalenliga II) to the league leaders in Dortmund’s Kreisliga B1. He previously played for Lüner SV and trained as a youth player at VfL Bochum.
The two-time U16 international’s record: 21 games in the U17 Bundesliga, six matches in the U19 Bundesliga and eleven games in the Westfalenliga II.
Now the move to the B-Kreisliga. “We’ve been looking for a left-footed player with top athleticism for our back three since the club was founded. When a player like that knocks on the door, you have to react immediately. We’re happy to be able to sign Alessio shortly before the start of the second half of the season,” explained Westfalia coach Maurice Temme ahead of the rest of the season opener at Tamilstars Dortmund on Sunday (February 18, 3 p.m.).
