Türkspor Dortmund remain unbeaten in the second half of the Oberliga Westfalen. Ali Cirak was shown a red card in the 2:0 win against SG Finnentrop-Bamenohl.
Türkspor Dortmund consolidated their second place in the Oberliga Westfalen on Sunday afternoon. Thanks to a 2-0 win against SG Finnentrop-Bamenohl, coach Sebastian Tyrala’s side remain in control of their own destiny.
Finnentrop traveled to Dortmund with a lot of self-confidence. The visitors have won four of their last five games and that was evident in the first half.
“The first half was difficult,” said Tyrala. “There wasn’t much pace. Maybe my boys were a bit nervous too.” Both teams were compact defensively and didn’t concede much.
Nevertheless, Türkspor had a few chances to take the lead. SG goalkeeper Alex Taach made a strong save. “We had three or four chances to score, we had to score.”
The hosts then increased the tempo and pressure in the second half. During the half-time break, Tyrala had a few words for his team: “I shouted. It was very loud, it has to be said. I asked if they wanted to get promoted and that we had to deliver much more.”
The message had obviously worked. In the 62nd minute, Koray Dag scored with a low shot to make it 1:0. Just five minutes later, he completed his brace after scoring from close range.
Anger at double red
Defender Ali Cirak was shown the red card in the 75th minute. In the ensuing commotion, Tyrala first saw yellow and then yellow-red. “This is a Bundesliga referee coming here and he shows the red card for a completely normal tackle.”
The resulting suspension for the central defender is particularly painful. “Now one of our players is banned for longer at this stage. That’s simply a bad decision.”
Tyrala was very upset about the decision by referee Florian Exner: “Then, of course, I grumbled because it’s just garbage. Then I gave a thumbs-up”, for which he received a second yellow card.
This is a Bundesliga referee coming here and he shows a red card for a normal tackle. Then, of course, I grumbled because it’s just nonsense.
Sebastian Tyralla
Florian Exner has already refereed four Bundesliga matches and twelve Bundesliga 2 games in his career. “As a Bundesliga referee, you might also have to get used to the top division. That was definitely not a red card and was completely excessive.”
Despite being outnumbered, his team took the 2:0 lead with aplomb. Next week, the runners-up in the table travel to Vreden. SpVgg are currently in sixth place in the Oberliga Westfalen
