Notorious new signing for district league club ASV Mettmann: an attacking player with professional experience joins the relegated team from the regional league.
Mehmet Boztepe’s days in professional soccer have been over for some time now. Most recently, the former third division player was on the pitch at district league club Viktoria Goch. And Boztepe will also be hunting goals in the district league in the coming season – albeit for a different club.
The 36-year-old has found a new club in ASV Mettmann, which has just been relegated from the regional league and now wants to attack the top again. “I’m delighted to become part of this club. ASV Mettmann has great ambitions and I am ready to give my best to achieve these goals. I hope that I can use my experience and skills to help the team be successful,” explained Boztepe as part of his transfer.
Born in Turkey, he came through the youth ranks at Borussia Mönchengladbach. He then played for Borussia Dortmund’s U23s and gained experience in the third division at BVB. He made 14 appearances in this division. He also made over 50 appearances in the regional league for Dortmund, SSVg Velbert and Wuppertaler SV.
However, Boztepe spent the majority of his career in Turkey, where he played in various positions between the second and fourth divisions between 2013 and 2022.

Now it continues in Mettmann – the ASV is not sparing with words of praise for the experienced attacker. “His outstanding skills and understanding of the game have quickly made him a sought-after player,” reads a statement. “With over 10 years of professional experience in Turkey, Boztepe brings not only footballing ability, but also exceptional tactical discipline and a deep understanding of the game.”
