The sell-off at SV Straelen began some time ago. Now the top SVS player this season has also found a new club.
To date, only Marcio Blank’s move to Landesliga club SV Scherpenberg was known after SV Straelen’s withdrawal from the Oberliga. Now the next move follows.
Tom Hirsch, who was also courted by several regional league clubs according to forecasting information, is moving to the regional league. The 27-year-old, who has scored a whopping 19 goals this season – nine goals, ten assists – in 17 appearances, is moving to 1. FC Monheim.
“Tom is currently one of the most exciting personalities in the Lower Rhine region and we have had him on our radar for some time, and not just since he was the talk of many people’s mouths in the winter. The boy is a thoroughbred footballer for whom certain parameters in his immediate environment are important,” according to a press release from 1. FC Monheim.
And further: “As a father, he now appreciates short distances, which we can of course provide to his home in Benrath. In addition, we have a large number of boys in our squad who have been close friends with Tom for a long time and who have been able to do the best advertising for our club. After we heard about the possibility of an obligation, we intensified our efforts and are extremely happy that we were able to convince Tom of our path. He is eager to get started and will give our coaches even more options to choose from. Above all, he is always good for special moments in games and will make us even more unpredictable. We are happy that he will now play for us.”
In addition to his youth clubs SG Unterrath, Rot-Weiß Oberhausen and Wuppertaler SV, Hirsch has also played senior football for WSV, Kalkum-Wittlaer, Rather SV, MSV Düsseldorf, Ratingen 04/19 and SV Straelen.
In the last four seasons in the Oberliga, he scored 55 goals in 88 appearances and provided another 32 assists.
In the Landesliga, he has 132 appearances in which he has been involved in 77 goals (46 goals, 31 assists). We are sure to see a few more of those now.
