Preußen Münster stumbled at the Tivoli and lost to Alemannia Aachen 4:2 (2:2). The guests revealed some problem areas in the defence.

While the usual West-Regionalliga teams are enjoying a weekend off, league leader Preußen Münster had to face Alemannia Aachen in a traditional duel. And the Aacheners were the difficult opponent expected by Preußen coach Sascha Hildmann. In the end, the outsiders even won 4:2 (2:2) and sent the Eagle Bearers back to Münsterland with question marks.

9900 spectators had come to the Tivoli and were already entertained in the first half. After ten minutes, Aachen took the lead with their first real chance.

Jannik Mause scored from around 14 metres into the far corner. Münster, unchanged from their 1-0 win over SV Rödinghausen, had to shake for a moment, but then struck twice within a few minutes: first, Marc Lorenz converted a penalty (23rd), then Thorben Deters nodded in a cross to give the visitors the lead (26th).

But it didn’t last long either: a free-kick cross reached Mause again, who was successful this time with his head (30th). After a good half, Aachen went into the dressing rooms with a draw, Alexander Heinze even had the chance to make it 3:2 (40.).

The second half then started with some delay, as referee Leonidas Exuzidis did not agree with a block flag of the visiting fans. Despite all the discussions, the game started again, accompanied by pyrotechnics from the Münster block. The Aacheners had already set off pyrotechnics before the start of the game and were also involved in half-time two.

At Münster, Henok Teklab replaced Yassine Bouchama, who had been yellow-carded, at the start of the second half, while Aachen remained unchanged. And as in the first period, Aachen struck first: a corner from Dino Bajric was nodded into the net by the advanced defender Lukas Wilton – 3:2 (53.) for the home side. And this time, Aachen took a two-goal lead: Elsamed Ramaj (66th) ensured the final score after a counterattack.

A first defeat of the season is a setback for Preußen. Nevertheless, Münster remain top of the table with a four-point lead over SV Rödinghausen. Aachen, meanwhile, moved up to sixth place. The next match for both teams is next Saturday (1 October, 2 pm). While Münster will play Schalke 04’s reserves, Fortuna Köln will be the guests at the Tivoli.
