Kevin Hagemann of Wuppertaler SV has had an outstanding year so far, notching up a total of six points in the last three league games.
Wuppertaler SV remains in the top flight of the Regionalliga West after their 2-0 win on matchday 22. Kevin Hagemann was once again named man of the match for WSV, with the 33-year-old scoring the first goal with a spectacular volley and setting up the second goal for his teammate Lukas Demming.
For Wuppertal, the win over Cologne was their third victory in three competitive games this year. Overall, the WSV has won its last four league games. “It was a deserved win for us. We had a hard time getting into the game and had little grip, but it got better over time and after the first goal,” Hagemann summed up. “In the second half, we made some tactical changes and didn’t allow much. Accordingly, we left the pitch as the deserved winners.”
In recent weeks, Hagemann has been a guarantor for his team’s current success. He scored twice in the 3-1 win against the U23 team of FC Schalke 04 at the beginning of the competitive season and in the 4-0 win against SV Rödinghausen last matchday. The veteran revealed the secret of his brilliant form to RevierSport.
“It’s always extremely important to stay injury-free, because without injuries you get a certain routine in the game. This automatically helps you gain match practice, which is crucial if you want to perform well,” explained Hagemann. ”I’ve often been sidelined by major injuries and have gained a lot of experience as a result. Fortunately, that wasn’t the case last winter break, so I’m glad things are going well for us right now.”
We just have to take the momentum from the last few weeks with us as a team and if we can play like we have in the last few games, then we’ll be hard to beat.

Thanks to the winning streak, Wuppertal SV fans can dream of promotion back to the 3rd division again, and the coming weeks look set to help them continue the run. In the coming match days, Wuppertal will play against FC Wegberg-Beeck (15th), SC Paderborn II (11th), SC Wiedenbrück (13th) and SV Lippstadt (17th), before the game against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, which will be a real thriller.
Despite the seemingly good starting position, Hagemann urges caution: “In this league, it’s always hard to say whether it’s going to be an easy or difficult opponent. We just have to take the momentum from the last few weeks as a team and if we perform as we have in the past few games, then we’ll be hard to beat. We’ll see where it goes.”
