Morocco, Portugal and Spain will host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
A special feature of this event is that three matches will take place in the South American countries of Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay to mark the 100th anniversary of the FIFA World Cup. The 1930 World Cup in Uruguay was the first ever competition.
Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay had presented a joint bid in the summer of 2022 under the motto Juntos 2030 (Together 2030).
Uruguay’s capital Montevideo was chosen as the venue for the opening match of the 2030 World Cup.
Gianni Infantino, President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), said in a statement: “In 2030, we will have a unique global footprint, three continents – Africa, Europe and South America – six countries – Argentina, Morocco, Paraguay, Portugal, Spain and Uruguay – welcoming and uniting the world as we celebrate the beautiful game, the centenary and the FIFA World Cup together.”
First, in 2026, the World Cup will be held in North and Central America, namely in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
