Good performance is rewarded! The Regionalliga West is also internationally observed. This appointment proves it.
“Congratulations, Malek! In November, our MSV goal scorer Malek Fakhro will be on an international match trip for the first time: Fakhro will play away against the Thai team on November 14 and against Myanmar on November 19 with the Lebanon team,” wrote MSV Duisburg on its social media channels on Friday evening (November 1).
Fakhro had recently scored for MSV against his former club 1. FC Bocholt, contributing to the 4-2 victory at Hünting. As a result, Duisburg is back at the top of the Regionalliga West table after 13 match days.
Now the striker, who has scored three goals this season to date and 15 in the last season, has received a very personal honor. Forecasting asked Fakhro how he felt after the national team invitation was announced.
Fakhro said: “Of course I am very, very proud to have been nominated for the national team of my home country and to be part of this team. Sure: the situation in Lebanon is very difficult at the moment. Nevertheless, I am happy about the nomination and of course I want to do my part to make sure that the people in Lebanon can be happier for a moment due to positive results of the national team. I want to recommend myself for further international matches and return to Duisburg in good health.”
The 26-year-old Fakhro was born in Essen and has lived in the Ruhr metropolis continuously since birth. “I already speak the language very well. Nevertheless, I think it will be something different and the boys will definitely say that this is Malek from Germany (laughs). But I hope that I will be well received and then I want to earn the necessary respect in the squad with good performances.”
On November 11, Fakhro will fly from Düsseldorf via Dubai to Bangkok. Fakhro explains: “Everything is really well organized. I have already received confirmation of my flights. After the Thailand game in Bangkok, we will fly on to Myanmar for a test match with the team. From there, I will fly back to Bangkok and Dubai to Düsseldorf on November 20.”
