Good news for Rot-Weiss Essen: Lucas Brumme’s contract has been extended until June 30, 2025, via an option.

The 1-2 defeat against Preußen Münster gives Rot-Weiss Essen fans at least one small reason to cheer in retrospect.

Thanks to his 22nd appearance in the current third division season, Lucas Brumme’s contract has been extended by another year until June 30, 2025. This was announced by Essen on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old Brumme went down in the Preußen half shortly before half-time in the Westschlager in Münster and had to be treated by the RWE physios. He suffered a bruised ankle in a tackle with Jano ter Horst and had to be substituted at half-time. Sascha Voelcke came on for him. On Monday, the all-clear was given: the left-back is expected to return to team training this week. The contract extension followed on Tuesday. A good start to the week for RWE and Brumme.

Speaking of contracts, 15 contracts are set to expire on June 30, 2024, including those of loan player Marvin Obuz and U19 talent Ahmed Etri. And don’t forget: Head coach Christoph Dabrowski is also in talks about a new contract.
