Bövinghausen concedes 1:4 defeat, Rhynern conquers top spot

The Oberliga Westfalen has a new league leader. Westfalia Rhynern climbed to the top after TuS Bövinghausen suffered their second 1:4 defeat in a row.

After the clear 1:4 defeat the previous week, TuS Bövinghausen had to get back on the winning track as quickly as possible at home against Victoria Clarholz. But Sebastian Tyrala’s team once again came away empty-handed against the fifth-placed team in the table and lost its lead. FC Gütersloh, meanwhile, continued to fight their way to the top. Preußen Münster II suffered a late setback. The new leaders come from Rhynern.

TuS Bövinghausen made a lightning start in front of their home crowd. It only took two minutes for Ilias Anan to put the leaders in the lead. But shortly before the break, Jan Grunewald had the answer ready (45th). In the second half, the game was completely overturned. Nick Flock (68./83.) and Oliver Cylkowski from the spot (75.) caused the second 1:4 defeat of the TuS in a row.

Rhynern takes advantage of Bövinghausen slip-up

Last matchday, Dortmund remained at the top despite the defeat. After another defeat, Westfalia Rhynern needed a point to move past. But it only took nine minutes for Westfalia to fall behind. Maurice Werlein gave the SG Finnentrop-Bamenohl a surprising lead.

But Rhynern shook itself and had an immediate answer. Gianluca Di Vinti scored in return to equalise (11th). In the second half, Tom Franke set the course for the league lead when he scored for Rhynern to make it 2-1 (64th).

Preußen Münster II also got the chance to pass Bövinghausen. And for a long time it looked more than good for Kieran Schulze Marmeling’s team. Ali Cirak (39th) and Francesco di Pierro (75th) made it 2:0 for their team, but Eintracht Rheine stayed in the game. Georges Baya Baya quickly scored the equaliser (78th). And shortly before the end, Eintracht actually shocked their neighbours from Münster. Timon Schmitz secured a point for the eleventh-placed team and put Preußen out of second place.

Gütersloh turns the game around and knocks on the top

After a poor start to the season, FC Gütersloh is finally on course too. They won 3:1 against 1. FC Gievenbeck. The visitors took an early lead through Christian Keil and even carried it into the break. In the second half, however, Gütersloh turned up the heat. Kevin Freiberger (51./78.) and Alexander Bannink (84.) ensured that the gap to the relegation places is now only four points with a game in hand.

ASC 09 Dortmund gained some breathing space with a 1:0 win over last-place TuS Ennepetal. Paderborn II celebrated a commanding 2-0 win at Sportfreunden Siegen, SpVgg Vreden got a last-minute treble against TSG Sprockhövel and TuS Erndtebrück and Delbrücker SC parted spectacularly with a 2-2 draw.
