After extensive analysis, Karlsruher SC has decided that coach Christian Eichner will be given a new assistant coach.
It is rare for only the assistant coach to have to leave in the middle of a season. However, Karlsruher SC made exactly this decision on Monday (December 8).
Former Schalke player Zlatan Bajramovic (who played 91 games for S04) was relieved of his duties by the second division club. According to Karlsruher SC, this was the result of an internal and long-term analysis with a view to the club’s overall strategy. Mario Eggimann, sporting director at Karlsruher SC, emphasized: “Zlatan has always contributed his knowledge and commitment to Karlsruher SC. We would like to express our sincere thanks to him for his work. After intensive analysis, we have come to the conclusion that this change will enable us to develop the sporting side of the club in a targeted and consistent manner in the short, medium, and long term. The decision was not an easy one for us, but we are convinced that it is the right one for the successful future of KSC.” KSC has already found a replacement for the 46-year-old. Daniel Gordon will take over Bajramovic’s position. Gordon is no stranger to the Ruhr region, having played for Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, BVB II, and VfL Bochum II. At the end of his career, however, he played most of his games for KSC, appearing 278 times for Karlsruhe.
He will now take on the role of assistant coach to head coach Christian Eichner. Eggimann explains: “With Daniel Gordon, we are deliberately opting for an internal solution who knows the club, the players, the coach, and our playing philosophy very well. We are convinced that he will help us both professionally and personally.”
In the 2nd Bundesliga, KSC is in eighth place after 15 match days. The gap to the relegation spot in third place is already eight points. On Saturday (December 13, 1 p.m.), Karlsruhe will host SC Paderborn – with Gordon as assistant coach for the first time.
