Home game in Ingolstadt! Audi Sportpark anticipates an invasion of 1860 Munich

TSV 1860 Munich is rolling up the field from behind and is close to the top spots. Now comes the Bavarian derby in Ingolstadt, which appears to be turning into a home game.

TSV 1860 Munich travels to the derby on Saturday. Their opponents are FC Ingolstadt at Audi Sportpark.

In terms of atmosphere, this match will be a home game for the Lions. Up to 6,000 TSV 1860 fans have bought tickets for the game in Ingolstadt.

A total of 4,500 tickets were sold in Munich, but many 1860 fans also ordered tickets directly in Ingolstadt. “The team has to be focused. Support from outside is always a bonus, but we saw in Regensburg that it’s not the only decisive factor. In the end, it always depends on how we adapt to the opponent!” emphasizes 1860 coach Markus Kauczinski. Jesper Verlaat, Morris Schröter, Manuel Pfeifer, Tunay Deniz, and Raphael Schifferl will continue to be unavailable to the coach in Ingolstadt. Maximilian Wolfram will also be missing from the squad on Saturday. The offensive all-rounder missed training due to illness. Kauczinski was recently satisfied with his team’s performances. Not only because of the three consecutive wins, which were all achieved with the same starting lineup.

“We are getting closer together from week to week, things and processes are working better and better, you can see that in our performances. I’m not celebrating just yet. But if we implement what we train and set out to do, then it will get better from week to week. At the moment, development is more important to me than the table. If you play well and constantly improve, success will come automatically,“ says Kauczinski. The 55-year-old Löwen coach can look back on a past as head coach of the Ingolstadt team, albeit a short one with only twelve games. But he harbors no resentment about it. ”That’s part of the game,” he says pragmatically about the FCI episode.

“It was a great challenge for me in the first division. Maybe I was the wrong man at the wrong time,” he joked. Ralph Hasenhüttl had previously achieved promotion to the Bundesliga with Ingolstadt as second division champions in 2015. “The fall was very high,” Kauczinski admitted. There were respectable results, such as a 3-3 draw against BVB, but ultimately not enough points. “Despite the short time, I have positive memories of it. I learned how close success and failure are to each other!”

He treats his colleague Sabrina Wittmann’s team with respect. Kauczinski: “It’s a team that has a plan and is well prepared, and will certainly try to surprise us with their transition play. But we also know that if we are patient and approach Ingolstadt accordingly, we will get our chances.”
