Marvin Schmickler, commercial director and authorized signatory of MSV, describes it as the “madness of Wedau.” And indeed, the figures now presented by the club are impressive.
MSV Duisburg’s figures for the 2024/25 Regional League season were impressive. Eleven points ahead, by far the best goal difference. The Meiderich team played a great season and deservedly advanced to the 3rd league. The finances from the 2024/25 season are also impressive. These are revenues that have probably never been seen before in the fourth division.
MSV has now published the figures for the KGaA on the club’s website. Marvin Schmickler, commercial director and authorized signatory of MSV, emphasized: “We closed the past financial year on June 30, 2025, with a profit of around €685,000. Total output amounted to €15.9 million, of which €13.2 million was attributable to sales revenue.“ A regional league profit that other clubs do not have at their disposal for their first team. This shows the impact the ”Zebras” had in their one year in the regional league – where there is no TV money.
Schmickler therefore expressed his heartfelt thanks. “We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all our fans, partners, and the city of Duisburg: with their support, regardless of the league, we have steered the club through really difficult waters and stabilized MSV not only in sporting terms, but also economically on its way back to the 3rd league.”
And now Duisburg are also fully involved in the 3rd league. Before the last match day in 2025, MSV are in second place, and a march through the league is a perfectly realistic scenario.
Schmickler is impressed by the club’s current phase. “There is no more fitting description than ‘the madness of Wedau’. Strong season ticket sales early in the season ensured financial stability and predictability. With our current sponsorship income, we rank in the top 3 in the league. Demand in the ZebraShop remains strong, and sales figures have been rising steadily since the reopening in 2024. All of this is simply a reflection of the tremendous support we receive. But despite all the euphoria, we must assess the situation correctly and, above all, humbly. The fact remains that financing the club’s operations in the 3rd division is a major challenge for MSV year after year.”
