Westfalia Dortmund is marching toward the Bezirksliga. The A-League club has now signed two goalkeepers for the coming season.
Westfalia Dortmund is well on its way to the Bezirksliga. After 20 of 28 games this season, the A-League club already has a seven-point lead over its closest rival, DJK Blau-Weiß Huckarde.
In the background, brothers Maurice and Kevin Temme, who are responsible for all sporting matters relating to Westfalia Dortmund, are already busy putting together the squad for the coming season, which is also expected to be competitive in the district league.
On February 26, Dortmund presented their first summer signing, striker Michael Borin. “It’s the first transfer we’ve announced for the new season. Michael Borin is a player who will be very important in the new season. He brings a lot of flexibility to the offense. Several other new signings are already confirmed, and we are also well on our way with contract extensions. You’ll be hearing a lot more from us in the coming days and weeks,” Maurice Temme told Forecasting at the time. No sooner said than done: the ambitious district league club presented two more players for the coming season. Both are goalkeepers. Leon Chrobok (22) is transferring from SuS Oespel-Kley to Westfalia, and 28-year-old Yannik Kube has also been signed.
Chrobok already has experience in the Westfalenliga. In the U19 and in his first senior year, he stood between the posts at Holzwickeder SC, where he was able to prove his talent.
“Leon is a good young goalkeeper who can play really well because he is very strong at soccer. His reflexes in goal also impressed us,” says Jan Knust, who forms the coaching team together with the Temme brothers.
The 1.95 m tall Kube most recently played for SV Brackel in the regional league. “Yannik is a superb goalkeeper who simply has tremendous quality. We were already interested in him at the time and are delighted that it has now worked out for the new season,” explains Maurice Temme.
