Rot-Weiss Essen has almost a full squad to choose from for the game against Erzgebirge Aue.
On Saturday (2 p.m.), Rot-Weiss Essen welcomes Erzgebirge Aue to the 3rd division. After victories against Waldhof Mannheim and Hoffenheim, the team is looking to secure its third win in a row against the relegation candidates in order to make its mark in the promotion battle. A win would see the team move up to third place, as MSV Duisburg, currently in third, faces a tough away game against Hansa Rostock. Good news for RWE: there are still hardly any personnel problems. Things are also looking better in goal. Jakob Golz, Essen’s number one, is back in full training after the knee injury he sustained in the home game against SV Wehen Wiesbaden. He could return to goal for coach Uwe Koschinat’s team against Aue. Felix Wienand is also back in training after having to take a break due to the events surrounding the Mannheim game. A firecracker thrown from the Mannheim curve detonated near him. Wienand suffered a blast trauma, but now he can be back with the team.
Essen’s number three, Tino Casali, had to take a break. The winter signing suffered a cut to his knee in a training accident on Tuesday. He should be fit again by the Aue game.

This means that only one player is likely to miss the game against Aue, as Klaus Gjasula was unable to train on Wednesday. The veteran is ill and is fighting to make a quick comeback against Aue. If he is unable to play, Ruben Reisig, who was signed from Hoffenheim in the winter, will replace him.
Gjasula will definitely be fit for the derby. According to the WAZ, the date has now been set for after the international break. Rot-Weiss Essen will host MSV Duisburg on Saturday (April 4) at 4:30 p.m. at Hafenstraße. The following match days have also been scheduled – and they could herald an intense phase in the final stretch of the season for Rot-Weiss Essen.
