The Bundesliga has announced yet another weather-related cancellation.
Following the match between FC St. Pauli and RB Leipzig, the game between Werder Bremen and TSG Hoffenheim has also fallen victim to the snowstorm “Elli.” The match, which was also scheduled for Saturday (3:30 p.m.), was officially canceled on Friday, just as the Pauli vs. RB match had been earlier. A rescheduled date will be announced “shortly,” the German Soccer League (DFL) said.
“The current weather conditions have led to widespread icing and significant snow drifts across large parts of the stadium grounds, making it impossible to hold the match safely,” the DFL stated. According to the stadium operator, the Weserstadion is “consequently inoperable.”
In northern Germany, the winter weather has been causing complications for days. Rail service has also been severely disrupted, and schools in many places were closed due to the weather.
