Borussia Mönchengladbach’s second team celebrated a 2:1 victory against 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn on the first day of the second leg. More than 1000 spectators came.

The second team of the Bundesliga team Borussia Mönchengladbach started successfully into the second half of the season.

Promoted team 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn was defeated with 2:1. The Gladbach team is now in second place, eight points behind league leader Preußen Münster.

Goal scorer Semir Telalovic and Torben Müsel scored for the “little foals”. For Kaan-Marienborn, ex-Essener and Wuppertal player Enzo Wirtz was successful.

“We played a good first half, in which we perhaps took a little too long after the early lead to convert our superiority into something tangible,” said Gladbach II coach Eugen Polanski, who was recently voted coach of the first half of the season by RevierSport.

In the final phase the visitors threw everything forward, the Gladbachers had a bit of luck. Polanski had a similar view: “We actually had everything under control, but missed to close the bag early on because we made the wrong decisions too often, especially in the counter-attacking situations.”

1367 spectators had come to the Grenzlandstadion to support Borussia’s U23. The coach also wanted to thank them for that. “My boys wanted to thank the many fans who came today and created an extraordinary atmosphere with a good game as well as a victory. We are happy that we managed to do that,” summed up the ex-professional.
